Tēnā koutou katoa,
The deadline for the registration of social workers is fast approaching – 27 February 2021. There are a number of steps to the process, some of which can take time. We encourage all NZCCSS member organisations with social workers to make sure you’ve got the process underway.
Here’s some helpful information from the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) to get you started:
It’s Time
It’s time to start your application to become a registered social worker with the deadline looming. The SWRB has to check all your documents, run a Police vetting process (which takes time) and put your application before the Board to approve. All that has to be done by the deadline of 27 Feb 2021 when mandatory registration takes effect. You can apply to register here. (https://my.swrb.govt.nz/).
Costs & support
Some social workers may struggle to pay the costs of registration and/or need support through the application process. Oranga Tamariki and Ministry of Social Development are offering to help NGOs they hold contracts with, in regards to costs and support. To find out more, contact your Oranga Tamariki advisor or relationship manager.
